The cave is located near to a footbridge that crosses the Dalwhat Water, below Caitloch House, around one mile from Moniaive village.
Caitloch Cave
The cave, located b the side of the Dalwhat Water, was used as a place of concealment during the time of the Covenanters. Tradition claims that there was at one time a tunnel from the cave to nearby Caitloch House, which was owned by Covenanter William Ferguson.
The cave, which has an entrance measuring aorund four feet by three feet, is about sixty feet deep. Its origins may have been as a lead mine, or prospecting shaft for lead, dug in the early seventeenth century.
