Crosbie Castle
Archibald Craufurd, son of William Craufurd of Crosbie and his wife, Anna Lamont, was a strong supporter of the Covenant. Archibald succeeded to the estate in 1676, and in that year made some alterations to the tower, adding his monogram and date.
On 30 July 1683 Archibald Craufurd was arrested and sent to prison 'on suspicion of being concerned in the affair of Bothwell Brig'. He spent some time in jail and was afterwards released. He married Margaret Porterfield.
