Gargunnock is a small village in a parish of its own, located on the northern slopes of the Gargunnock Hills, which form part of the Campsie Hills massif in the county of Stirling.

Deerness Martyrs
Five Covenanters from Gargunnock were arrested and held in prison in Edinburgh. They were sentenced to banishment to America in 1679. They were sentenced to transportation on the Crown of London (master Thomas Teddico) which was shipwrecked at Deerness in the Orkney Islands. Four of the Gargunnock Covenanters were drowned on 10 December 1679. One Covenanter from Gargunnock survived the wreck.
