Fergus MacAlexander

Rev Fergus MacAlexander was the first minister of the parish of Barr, the village of which lies to the south-east of Girvan. He was born in 1616. MacAlexander was one of many ministers who were outed in 1662 for failing to accept the king as the head of the church. MacAlexander died on 15 February 1689 and was buried in the old parish kirkyard of Girvan.
