Pentland Rising

John Wilson of Kilmaurs took part in the Pentland Rising and was captured at Rullion Green. He was executed at the Grassmarket, Edinburgh, on 22 December 1666.

Earls of Glencairn

It is said that due to the control the Earls of Glencairn had on the parish of Kilmaurs, it died not suffer much during the years of the Covenant.

Battle of Drumclog

A group of Kilmaurs Covenanters took part in the battle in 1679.

Battle of Bothwell Bridge

A group of Kilmaurs Covenanters took part in the battle, and it is said that they carried the Kilmaurs Covenanter flag on that day. This flag no longer exists.
