Martyr's Stone - Annanhead

The Martyr's Stone purportedly marking the spot where John Hunter, Covenanter, was shot dead in 1685 on the slopes of the Devil's Beef Tub in Dumfriesshire.  More about Hunter can be read here.

The Martyr's Stone is a natural boulder above an old hill path known as the Strait Path. It can be accessed by the path from Corehead farm, near the head of Annandale, north of Moffat.
