Mearns Castle
When the congregation of Mearns Parish Church left it to follow their minister, who had been outed in 1663, they met in the old tower of Mearns Castle.
By 1675 the tower had been taken over by Government soldiers and it was used as a garrison to hold soldiers used in the search for Covenanters.
