Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum

The Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum has a few items associated with the Covenanters in its collection. Not all items are necessarily on display, so if in doubt it may be worth contacting the museum before visiting. Items held here include:

Rev James Guthrie's Ring

When Guthrie (1612-1661) was being executed on the scaffold on 1 June 1661, he took off his ring and handed it to a friend to pass on to his wife. The ring passed down through six generations of daughters of the Church of Scotland until it was acquired by the Smith Museum.

A chair belonging to Rev James Guthrie is held by the Stirling Smith Museum.

Rev James Guthrie's Portrait

A portrait of Rev James Guthrie is owned by Stirling Smith Museum.
